QUETTA: The District Administration while taking action against building code violators demolished 50 shops and sealed 20 shops. Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, is located in the quake-hit Red Zone, where the construction of high-rise buildings is banned in the best interests of the people. According to the building code construction of more than 30 feet buildings was banned in the city. It is a matter of concern that the authorities are not fulfilling their responsibilities due to which high rise buildings and plazas are still being constructed in the city. Due to which there is a fear of heavy loss of life and property. The district administration of Quetta took action against the construction of high-rise buildings in Quetta, in an operation led by Assistant Commissioner Quetta Zohaib Siddiqui, the staff of the Metropolitan Corporation demolished about 50 shops in Zarghoon Road Quetta and adjoining areas while 20 shops were sealed.
Talking to media, Assistant Commissioner Quetta Zohaib Siddiqui said that violation of the building code would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The beauty of the Quetta Valley has faded and we cannot see the beautiful scenery of nature.
He said that the district administration does not have enough staff to inspect every building but the cooperation of the people is needed in this regard.
He appealed to the citizens to refrain from violating the building code and wherever they see constructions against the building code, they should point it out and inform the district administration so that we can take full action against them.
He said that district administration and metropolitan corporation officials would continue to take action for violating the cabling code.
